    A second blow at “Henmania”. A year after a straight set defeat in the Wimbledon quarterfinal to Todd Martin, Henman [20] was unable to win a set again facing a player who seemed beatable. Stich and Henman had met seven months earlier on carpet, and the Brit won 6-3, 6-3 (Grand Slam Cup). On Wimbledon’s Court No. 1 Henman’s second serve deserted him, 6 out of 10 double faults he committed in the opener. Because of that he decided to stay on the baseline behind his second serves in the 2nd set, but the outcome was even worse – he lost his serve twice. In the 3rd set Stich [88] got his only break at 3-all and finished the match with a backhand volley winner. After such a brilliant disposal it was very tough to expect it’d be Stich’s last match won in his career.
