   The unseeded Kriek [18] was severely beaten on Centre Court, but the confidence he gained on grass in the biggest event on this surface, certainly helped him to conquer Australian Open a few months later, on a slower grass. McEnroe [2] was playing brilliant tennis for the first 40 minutes, he led 6-1, 4:0* but lost his focus and found himself at *4:5 (40/30) to win the vast majority of the points again between that moment and the end of the match.
