  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 32-28, 31-27 |
    Unreturned serves:
    40 % Hewitt – 20 of 50
    26 % Blake – 18 of 68

Hewitt took a revenge for his previous match against Blake [7] which he lost (Las Vegas final) earlier that year. The Australian [13] had their final in London under full control with a momentary hiccup when he led 5:1* in the opener, then he lost three straight games winning just one point. The only break of the 2nd set occurred at 3-all. “It’s fantastic,” Hewitt, “I’ve always enjoyed coming here. It’s great winning it for a fourth time. The year I won Wimbledon (in 2002) I won here at Stella so it gives you a lot of confidence going into Wimbledon.” Hewitt would confirm his good form at Wimbledon, but in the quarterfinal he unexpectedly lost to Baghdatis.

Hewitt’s route to his 25th title:
    2 Fernando Vicente 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
    3 Max Mirnyi 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(4) ☆
    Q Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-3 ret.
    S Tim Henman 6-3, 3-6, 6-2
    W James Blake 6-4, 6-4

☆ Hewitt three points away from losing to Mirnyi; Nadal retired due to a sore shoulder

    Serve & volley: Hewitt 0, Blake 3/5
