   Muster [17] came to Portugal having lost four main-level matches in a row (two Davis Cup rubbers), and found the form of his life winning 35 straight matches on European clay (six titles… and what’s more staggering, at claiming each title he was within a game or two to be eliminated!). It was Costa’s second ATP final, he advanced there losing just one service game in four matches (at 85% of 1st serve in). Soon it would be revealed he wasn’t just one of many clay-court “second league” specialists from Spain, but the real deal capable of winning the biggest tournaments on that surface. Muster held firmly all his five service games in the opener, in the 2nd set he trailed *1:2 (30-all) when won the best rally of the final with an overhead, and took the last five games in a scorching heat.
