    Novacek [48] was in sensational form at Roland Garros ’87 dropping just 4 games in his first 8 sets of the tournament!! Mecir [5] led 4:2* (deuce) in the 1st set when the rain fell and the match was continued the following day. Novacek was two points away from taking the set at 6:5* (30/0), then he led 4:1* in the tie-break. After the tight opening set, Mecir played his best tennis to win the next two sets faster than the opener.
