  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 33-25, 26-29, 24-7, 33-21 ]
    Points won directly on serve:
    21 % Nadal – 23 of 106
    13 % Thiem – 12 of 92

A repeat of the last year’s final, their third Parisian match in the past three years, and the fourth one in total there. Just like a year before, Thiem [4] played competitive tennis for two opening sets (the level of the opener was outstanding… Thiem got just 1 point directly behind the serve) with one big difference – this year he managed to get a set, even though Nadal [2] held 5 times without any problems until he trailed *5:6 (15/0). After the 2nd set Nadal took a toilet break, came back after 5 minutes, and destroyed his Austrian opponent. Despite the one-sided scoreline, Thiem was good again in the 4th set, he had points to win three games he lost, including two break point games. Very unusual situation that the ‘6-1’ set (4th) consisted of just one point fewer than the 2nd ‘7-5’ set – thus far it’s the set with the fewest points played that I know… (29:26) while ‘the shortest’ possible is (28:20). # Nadal overcomes his own record (established in three cities) of 11 titles obtained in the same event.

Nadal’s route to his 82nd title:
    1 Yannick Hanfmann 6-2, 6-1, 6-3
    2 Yannick Maden 6-1, 6-2, 6-4
    3 David Goffin 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3
    4 Juan I. Londero 6-2, 6-3, 6-3
    Q Kei Nishikori 6-1, 6-1, 6-3
    S Roger Federer 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
    W Dominic Thiem 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1

☆ The most titles at a single tour-level event in 2019:
    Rafael Nadal – Roland Garros – 12
    Rafael Nadal – Monte-Carlo – 11
    Rafael Nadal – Barcelona – 11
    Roger Federer – Halle – 9
    Roger Federer – Basel – 9
    Rafael Nadal – Rome – 9
