   That match had occurred more than a year before Djokovic became almost invincible, and certainly a win like that against Monfils could hugely contribute to Djokovic’s amazing mental firmness. He almost won the final in two different sets to be quite close from defeat, yet he found a way to victory. In the 2nd set he already led 3:0* (deuce), in the 3rd set he led with a break twice. Deciding moment of the encounter came at *4:3 for Djokovic [3] in the tie-break – there was a 34-stroke rally, and it was Monfils [16] who made a forehand error. The Serb got another two points quickly, the last one after Monfils’ double faults. “It was incredibly tough,” said the 22-year-old, form whom it was the second title in two weeks (following Basel). “Winning back-to-back titles at this level is a huge achievement for me, and adding to that, beating the world number one and number two. I really feel that I’m in great form right now. The support of the crowd was probably one of the crucial things of today’s match in his favour, so that makes my success even bigger.”… It was their fourth meeting, for now Djokovic leads 20-0, and Monfils was closer to get his only win in their meetings No. 10 and 17 #
