  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-30, 29-36, 36-28 |
    Unreturned serves:
    18 % Dosedel – 18 of 99
    23 % Moya – 21 of 90

Dosedel won only three titles in his career, but twice in the finals he defeated Moya, who was higher ranked on both occasions [40 vs 73 in Munich and 10 vs 59 in Amsterdam ’97]. When they met in Bavaria, Dosedel’s victory wasn’t shocking because he’s six years older so he had much more experience than Moya, who was a rising star at the time, and in the years to come he’d develop bigger serve and forehand to reach the top of men’s tennis… The Spaniard won the first 13 points on serve, but was broken at 4:5 when Dosedel surprised him attacking the net off Moya’s serves – a very aggressive attitude at returning it’s something that made the Czech stand out from the rest of clay-courters. He fought off a double break point at 1-all in the decider forcing two backhand errors, and led 5:2* (40/0). The wasted match points didn’t affect him at all, and he finished the job rather easily in the following game.

Dosedel’s route to his 2nd title:
    1 Omar Camporese 6-1, 6-0
    2 Gilbert Schaller 6-2, 7-5
    Q Hernan Gumy 6-1, 6-3
    S Boris Becker 7-6(2), 2-6, 7-6(6) – 1 m.p.
    W Carlos Moya 6-4, 4-6, 6-3

    Serve & volley: Dosedel 4/8, Moya 0
