  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 26-11, 25-12 |
    Unreturned serves:
    48 % Sinner – 19 of 39
    22 % Zverev – 8 of 35

Zverev [3] was destroyed in the Madrid final like four years ago and he had the same excuse – he was playing night session matches prior to the final while the final began under the Sun. It’s a poor excuse because Sinner lately defeats Zverev everywhere, also 6-0, 6-1 under the floodlights (Paris ’25). Two terrible forehand volleys at 0:3 were the testament to Zverev’s abysmal performance. He couldn’t play any longer rally thus Sinner was fresh like a daisy and obtaining points directly behind the serve with astonishing frequency given a clay-court. For Sinner [1] that triumph meant his fifth Masters 1K title in succession – it’s a new record. Before him four straight titles collected only the best players in history: Nadal in 2013 (Madrid, Rome, Montreal, Cincinnati) and Djokovic in the years 2013-14 (Shanghai, Paris… Indian Wells, Miami). Djokovic repeated the feat in 2015 starting the streak with Paris ’14.

Sinner’s route to his 28th title:
    2 Benjamin Bonzi 6-7(6), 6-1, 6-4
    3 Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-3
    4 Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-5
    Q Rafael Jodar 6-2, 7-6(0)
    S Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4
    W Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2

    Serve & volley: Sinner 0, Zverev 2/4

☆ Sinner and Zverev lately meet more often than any other pair of players – 7 times in the last 7 months and Sinner has won 14 sets in a row!
