   Very unexpected semifinal of two non-European players, yet both Spanish speakers, and – in retrospect – a big chance wasted by El Aynaoui [18] to reach one big final in his career. The 32-year-old Moroccan had a 3:0 H2H record against Massu [21] and it seemed that indoor conditions would favour him with his powerful game. The mid-section of the match decided, from *4:5 in the opener, Massu won five straight games… That event meant El Aynaoui’s last very good performance. Soon afterwards he’d begin struggling with an injury, and the last few years of his career were marked by very irregular appearances.
