   Federer’s eighth triumph in Halle, third in a row, but he needed to work harder in 2015 than in two preceding editions because the event was elevated from “ATP 250” to “ATP 500” thus five not four matches won were required for players seeded with the first tour numbers. At 3-all (deuce) in the opener the rain forced the officials to activate the retractable roof which caused a 12-minute break. Afterwards Federer lost his service rhythm and had some problems in three successive games, saved a break point at 3:4, double set point at 4:5, and at 5:6 (30-all) he won a rally he should have lost, but Seppi [45] was too tentative with his overhead. In the 2nd set the only break of the final occurred in the last game as Federer converted his second match point hitting an overhead winner after the bounce.
