   The second professional meeting (not included to their official H2H) between 26-year-old McEnroe [2] and eight years younger Becker [5] – the first one McEnroe similarly won 6-4, 6-3 in Milan earlier that year. At the time it seemed like a match between the best player of the 80s against the potential best player of the 90s, in hindsight neither can be considered as the best player of a specific decade though… McEnroe broke first to lead 4:2, in the 2nd set he improved from 1:3* (deuce) to 5:3. In the last game Becker – the then Wimbledon champion – had a triple break point, but McEnroe fought it off with a bunch of very good serves… Becker was already known as a powerful server, but his second serve still didn’t fully mature, and he was afraid to attack the net behind his second serves – typical attitude when he was the best indoor player at the turn of the 80s and 90s.
