   [25] Kucera was ruling coast-to-coast in Australia in January of 1998. After leading Slovakia to the Hopman Cup triumph in Perth, he moved to Sydney and claimed his personal title, then he would advance to his lone Slam semifinal in Melbourne where lost to Korda in a lop-sided four-setter. Kucera played 16 matches in Australia in the first month of 1998, losing two – beside Korda, also Rafter defeated him (7-6, 4-6, 7-6) in the Hopman Cup ’round robin’ tie… Against Henman [19], Kucera began slowly, he faced a 0:4* deficit playing quite miserably, but once he improved his serve and ground-strokes, the Brit was in big troubles. Henman wasted several break points at 5-all, and after losing his serve in the 3rd game of the 2nd set, he broke his Slazenger racquet which was a rarity.
