   Nine out of twelve games of the 3rd set were ‘love’ games when Nishikori decided to play S/V behind first serves! 30 year-old, the defending champion Wawrinka [4] had wasted a 6:1* lead in tie-break before he won it 8/6… at 6-all Nishikori netted a FH dropshot, Wawrinka converted his sixth MP with an ace. A reminiscence of their previous match, also a major quarterfinal (US Open ’14) in which Wawrinka won the tie-break 7/5 earlier leading 4:0. The second of [5] Nishikori’s four Aussie Open quarterfinal defeats (2012, 2015-16, 2019).
