   Sinner and Alcaraz withdrew, Djokovic lost his first match (6-2, 4-6, 4-6 to Tirante), the draw was pretty open from the beginning, and just like almost two weeks ago in Montreal, a semifinal occurred in which participated two players who never advanced to a Masters 1K final before (yet Cobolli played a bigger final this year at Roland Garros). Fils, the first Frenchman since Forget in 1991, to play three Masters 1K semifinals within a year, on two previous occasions he had no chance, but in Miami and Hamburg he had survived one super tough match each tournament, therefore he ran out of gas. This time the situation was reversed: he entered the semifinal being fresh while Cobolli [10] having played four matches concluded in deciders, including two matches when he was on the verge of defeat. Initially Fils [21] looked like an error machine, but once he saved a break point at 2:2, he began to dominate in rallies. He got five successive games, and once he led 2:0* in the 2nd set, feeling his physical advantage over the opponent, he focused himself only on holding (lost 13 successive points on Cobolli’s serve missing plenty of returns), and it was the right tactics. He converted his first match point with a kick (unreturned) serve.
