   Two very tall men born in 1997 [Zverev 197 cm, Hurkacz 195 cm], the three-hour match played indoors, so there were very thin margins with their similar game-styles based on big serves and penetrating forehands if the opponent somehow returned on the other side. In the 2nd set the German [7] began reading [9] Hurkacz’s serve better, but he squandered five break points – first at 3:2 (40/15), then at 6:5 which meant three set points – the second of them Hurkacz saved after an arguably point of the match. In the tie-break the Pole had a double championship point at *6:4, but strangely he didn’t deliver his service bomb, instead he proposed a slice serve and Zverev passed him in a six-shot rally with his forehand (the ball caught the sideline, probably just two centimetres separated the Polish team from the victory). Another three points in that tie-break Zverev collected thanks to Hurkacz’s casual errors, the last two of his unstable forehand were real gifts. The only break of the match came at 3-all in the decider; a moment before it happened, Hurkacz had thrown his racquet towards a ball-boy and potentially a half of meter separated him from being defaulted (if the racquet hit boy’s shin-bone). Serving for victory, Zverev couldn’t regulate his breath at 15/0, got a warning for time violation; Zverev argued with the umpire while Hurkacz behaved in a way like it was his fault – completely irrational behaviour. The mixed-doubles was required, and the Germans took it quite convincingly having a weaker pair. Zverev’s 2nd title for Germany, following his Gold medal at the Olympics ’21.
