   The officials and spectators could be very happy to witness the first final of the two most promising players of the 20s decade when they were both in the process of development, waiting for a maiden major title at the time. In the opener, 21-year-old Sinner [10] and 19-year-old defending champion Alcaraz [5] were holding firmly being focused on big serves and big forehands. In the tie-break the older player improved from 1:5 to *5:6 and perhaps he thought for a second the point was his, but Alcaraz created a tight angle with his forehand from an uncomfortable position forcing an error at the net. As the teenager led 1:0* (40/0) in the 2nd set, given the progress of the final, the set ‘6-3’ for him seemed plausible. Sinner fended off the triple break point as well as another three break points in that game and it turned the tables. Sinner saved another two break points to go for a 3:1 lead. Before the decider he took a toilet break, and he saved another break point at 1-all. Alcaraz was playing second straight week (he lost the Hamburg final a week before), almost day by day, and in the end he was out of sorts – in the last four games he turned into an error machine… Among those nine break points he wasted in the championship match, three were the consequence of his failed returns off Sinner’s second serves.
