  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 37-42, 29-25, 34-35, 27-23 |
    Unreturned serves:
    21 % Cobolli – 28 of 131
    23 % Auger – 29 of 121

The conditions were super tough at the beginning because the wind was blowing around 30 kph on average which makes controlling the ball almost impossible. In those tricky conditions, Auger [6] fought off a break point at 4-all, won the set and the officials decided to close the roof because a drizzle was expected, so the conclusion was that the gusty wind plus some rain it’d be too tough to handle for the players and spectators. Auger is arguably the second best indoor player behind Sinner, but on hardcourts. On clay regardless of indoors/outdoors he’s not able to get so many cheap points with his two basic weapons: serve and forehand. Admittedly he led *3:1 (30/15) in the 2nd set, but as Cobolli [14] broke back, his more stable baseline game was taking command. He accelerated his serve, began attacking the net, and the rest of the match he had under his control. It’s his first advancement to the Slam semifinal, Auger will be No. 4 in the world after this tournament – his highest ranking so far. A consolation for someone who was expected to be a major champion six years ago; now he’s very upset because he’s 26 and hasn’t played a major final yet.

    Serve & volley: Cobolli 4/5, Auger 3/5
