  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Total points won by each set: | 44-41, 53-55, 31-20 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    18 % – Nadal – 21 of 115
    6 % – Davydenko – 9 of 129

[2] Nadal saved a set point at *5:6 in the 1st set. He led *5:3 in the 2nd set, then Davydenko [7] needed six set points in the tie-break to win it 10/8. In the deciding set, the Russian led 4:3* but the Spaniard won 12 out of the last 13 points to celebrate the 3-hour 39-minute victory on his knees (photo)… It was his 76th consecutive victory on clay for, breaking John McEnroe’s one-surface record. “It was one of the most difficult matches I’ve ever played on clay,” said Nadal. “I really risked losing it.” Davydenko analysed: “He tried for every ball – it’s amazing. It was my body. My shoulder was tired. I’m not like Nadal physically. I need to improve physically. My tennis is not so bad.” It’s the longest 1-2 defeat in Davydenko’s career. A few days later he played another marathon, this time prevailing against Simon 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 in Hamburg after 3 hours 13 minutes – his longest 2-1 victory. The Russian came back from *1:4 and *2:4 in successive sets.
